Adding to the trend of making contactless payments, Paypal is also adding a new feature to its mobile app to work with the QR code option making customers pay at stores easily. The new Paypal app is equipped with this additional feature and will be available in 28 countries including the US, UK, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Australia.

PayPal Rolls out new QR Code

Although big companies like Visa and Master card are already providing the QR code feature, it is significant in the case of Paypal, because it is free to open an account with them and hundreds of millions of people are already using the platform. This new offering from Paypal will make even the smaller merchants use the system without needing to buy any new equipment to provide the necessary facility for payment.

The increasing demand for contactless payment is rising amid COVID-19 pandemic, adding value to social distancing requirements. PayPal said it’s not going to charge its standard seller transaction fee on any transaction using QR codes for a limited period of time.

The Paypal has already been integrated with Google Pay and Samsung Pay and its new offering of the QR code scanning is assumed to be the company’s plan to reach and provide its services to more and more stores.
