Google is preparing for a search engine ranking change that will include the user’s page experience metrics. The Chrome team had announced Core Web Vitals, a set of metrics related to speed, responsiveness, and visual stability in order to help site owners measure the site experience. Google will introduce a new signal combining the Core Web Vitals with its existing ranking signals for measuring the quality of the user’s experience on the web pages.
In order to quantify the key aspects of user experience, the user-centered metrics were developed namely Core Web Vitals which will measure the dimensions of web usability such as load time, interactivity, and the stability of content as it loads.
As a part of this update, Google will also consider the user’s page experience in considering the ranking of the Top Stories feature in Search on mobile. The current criteria to meet AMP requirements will not be an eligibility requirement for choosing the top stories.
Google said these changes are going to happen not before the next year and website owners will be given at least six months’ time before the updates are rolled out.
