Facebook is releasing a new tool today that can be accessible by users in the US and Canada to transfer their photos and videos to Google Photos.
The tool can be availed by heading to your Facebook settings, then moving on to the tab that reads “Your Facebook Information.” There you’ll get the option to transfer your photos and videos by connecting your Google account before you can transfer your files.
The photo transfer tool to share photos to Google was initially launched in early December last year as part of their Data Transfer Project. By March 2020, the tool has become available around the globe, including countries in Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. As stated by Facebook in the next coming months remaining countries also will get access to the tool. Once the tool rolls out globally later this year, users will also be able to transfer photos to Microsoft, Apple, Twitter, and other companies that join the Data Transfer Program.
The Data Transfer Project is a data-sharing initiative that formed in 2018 to help people easily move their data between various online services such as Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Twitter. These programs such as photo and video sharing between online platforms are still in its early stages, with most of the progress going on the back end.
