Google has introduced a free training course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in 17 languages to teach journalists around the world.
This Introduction to Machine Learning is said to be built by journalists, for journalists, and it will be helpful for them to reply to questions like What is machine learning? How do you train a machine learning model? What can journalists and news organizations do with it and why is it important to use it responsibly?
The new training course is developed by Journalism AI in collaboration with VRT News and the Google News Initiative (GNI). By joining the online course you can track your progress and own certificate when you complete the course. The Training Center also offers many other courses.
In a global survey conducted by Google last year about the use of AI by news organizations, most of the participants pointed out the urgent need to know more about machine learning and other AI-powered technologies. As global survey of journalism and AI says “AI literacy is crucial. The more the newsroom at large embraces the technology and generates the ideas and expertise for AI projects, the better the outcome. New powers, new responsibilities”
After this course, Google is said to be planning more training resources on AI and machine learning for journalists later this year.
